Located just outside of Chatham, Woodlawn Academy is an independent, coeducational, nonsectarian elementary/middle school, providing education for students in grades K-8. Small classes and attention to each student is standard. For younger children, the Academy offers a popular pre-kindergarten program for three and four year olds. Summer camp programs are also available.

Giving the varying social, physical, intellectual, spiritual, and emotional needs of its students, Woodlawn Academy encourages the development of the whole person. "At Woodlawn, we realize the importance of a well-rounded education. We believe a child's first years of school will set the tone for his/her lifetime academic achievements." Woodlawn was founded in 1970 and is operated by the nonprofit Pittsylvania County Education Foundation, Inc.
