One of Pittsylvania County's newest schools is also Chatham's newest school middle school. Both Blairs Middle School and Central Middle School closed to fill the classrooms of their new home. Chatham Middle School opened its doors in 2003 and has been a showcase of modern public education in the community.

Chatham Middle School boasts a very active and supportive PTO. Students also have risen above expectations in the school's first year. The school student body received 7-8 awards from the Jr. Beta Club in state competition, with the potential for them to attend national competition.
