The Chatham community has many individuals that believe in honest community service. Almost every club and organization in Chatham promotes the Town in their own way, which makes for a wonderful camaraderie of effort.
Each of these clubs or organizations strive in some large or small way to make Chatham a better place for the entire community to enjoy.
The Community Center-CONTACT: 434-432-3115 - The Community Center is committed to engage the community through social, business educational, and recreational opportunities that contribute to the overall health, education, and well-being of its citizens. To that end, it is the general policy of the Center that groups or individuals are encouraged to use the facility for recreational, educational, cultural and other worthwhile purposes. It is the intention of the Center that its activities are available to allpersons regardless of age, gender, race, religion, or national origin.
Chatham First - a community development group that sponsors community social activities and economic development projects. Recent projects that we've been involved in include Christmas in Colonial Chatham, Blossom's Garden Party, and the Chatham Horse Show.
Chatham Garden Club. Since 1922 (the first year that a non-founding club was added to the Garden Club of Virginia), the Chatham Garden club has met to discuss, plan, and participate in historical restoration and beautification projects (both large and small) generally involving gardens. Their on-going projects include maintaining planters on Main Street planted each spring with red geraniums and vinca and maintaining the landscaping at 1767 Callands Clerk's Office.
Chatham Lions Club. The Chatham Lions club is a group that shares a common interest in community service, supporting the Lions motto "We Serve." Donated eyeglasses may be left at Worsham Appliances & TV, Allan Easley Insurance Agency, or any club member. Club President Elton Pruitt can be contacted at 432-8723 to find out more about activities and membership.

& Mr. George W. Johnson.
The Order of the Eastern Star is the largest fraternal organization in the world to which both men and women may belong. Eastern Star is a social order comprised of persons with religious convictions and spiritual values, but is not a religion. Its appeal rests in the true beauty of the refreshing and character building lessons that are so sincerely portrayed in its ritualistic work. The chapter meets monthly on the 2nd Thursday of each month at 7:30 p.m.; 61 North Main Street, Chatham, VA.
