At a Public Hearing of the Council for the Town of Chatham, held in the council
room of the Town Hall, at 12:00 P.M. on June 18, 2009.
Present: George O.
Haley, Mayor
Council Members: Roy Byrd, Alvin Crider, C.B.
Cundiff, and Robert Thompson. Absent: McDole and Rogers.
Mayor Haley called the hearing to order and stated
the reason for the meeting is to hear public comment concerning the 2009-2010
budget for the Town of Chatham.
Councilman Cundiff reviewed
the proposed budget for the Town of Chatham for 2009/2010. The total budget
amount is $1,993,300. General Fund budget is $804,300 and Water and Sewer is
$1,189,000. The budget as recommended by the Finance Committee has the
following tax and fee increases:
Real Estate $.25 per $100 an
increase of $.03
Personal Property Tax $4.55
per $100 an increase of $.05
Vehicle Registration Fee
$38.75 per year an increase of
$9.25.
Garbage Collection Fees will
increase $1.00 per month for all
categories.
Water and Sewer Rates
In-Town Water Rate $3.40 per 1000 gallons a
$.10 increase
In-Town Sewer Rate $4.46 per 1000 gallons a
$.10 increase
Out-of-Town Water Rate $5.30 per 1000 gallons a $.10 increase
Out-of-Town
Sewer Rate $8.81 per 1000 gallons a $.10 increase.
Tax rate increases will be effective with the
December 2009 billing. Garbage, water, and sewer rates will be effective with
the September 2009 billing.
Hearing no comments, the hearing was adjourned at
12:30P.M.
